Simple Old Fashioned Garland
Supplies Needed
- colored construction paper
- scissors
- tape
What to do
Step 1. Have an adult cut strips of construction paper approximately 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
Step 2. Bend one strip to form a circle, have the ends overlap. Use tape to attach the ends so that you have created a circle.
Step 3. Insert another strip through the circle and repeat step one so that you have created interlinking circles.
Step 4. Repeat until you have created a chain long enough to drape on your Christmas tree.
Reindeer Candy Canes
Supplies Needed
- candy canes
- 6 inch pipe cleaners
- red or black small pompoms
- plastic eyes
- glue
What to do
Step 1. Fold your pipe cleaner in half. Place the candy cane with the top of the curve in the fold of the pipe cleaner.
Step 2. Twist the pipe cleaner around the candy cane and twirl the ends of the pipe cleaner to create antlers.
Step 3. Glue a pompom nose (red for Rudolph, black for the others) on the tip of the candy cane.
Step 4. Glue the eyes above the nose.
Step 5. Hang your Candy Cane Reindeer in your Christmas tree.
Winter Wonderland
Supplies Needed
- white paper plates
- white frosting
- food coloring
- sugar ice cream cones
- candies
- shredded coconut
What to do
Step 1. Divide your frosting in half. Mix a few drops of green food coloring into half of the frosting to create green frosting.
Step 2. Spread white frosting on the paper plate.
Step 3. Turn several (2-4) sugar cones upside down and gently press down in to the frosting.
Step 4. Spread your green frosting on the cones to create your Spruce trees.
Step 5. Decorate the trees with candies.
Step 6. Sprinkle shredded coconut over the plate and trees to create a snowy winter wonderland.
Giant Peppermint Patty
Supplies Needed
- white paper plates
- red markers
- glue
- tape
- clear plastic wrap (not cling wrap)
- scissors
What to do
Step 1. Take two white paper plates and use a red marker to draw peppermint swirls on the bottom sides of each plate.
Step 2. Glue or tape the plates together with the swirls on the outside so that your creation resembles a peppermint patty.
Step 3. Cut a piece of the clear plastic wrap large enough to wrap around the peppermint patty with enough room on each end to twist.
Step 4. Wrap the plastic wrap around the peppermint patty and secure in place with tape.
Step 5. Twist the ends of the plastic wrap to resemble a peppermint patty.
Hand Turkey
Supplies Needed
- paper
- crayons
- decorations (small pompoms, feathers, glitter, etc.)
What to do
Step 1. Place your hand on a sheet of paper and spread out your fingers and thumb.
Step 2. Using a crayon, trace an outline of your hand.
Step 3. Draw a turkey face on the thumb outline. Draw two turkey legs underneath your traced outline.
Step 4. Decorate the “feathers” of your turkey (your finger outlines) with your decorations.
